This is the author (found through a Google image search): http://vickym72.deviantart.com/art/Ubuntu-Smooth-274222221 You may ask them what license the work is under, and if it is open, whether they still have the source and would not mind sharing it with you. Alternatively, you may request them to make an Arch version. -- GPG/PGP ID: C0711BF1

I am glad you like it! I put two new "more reflective" versions to this page: https://www.lumalab.net/download/archlogo/

This is my desktop wallpaper now, too! Great job! -- Fish
Here's my attempt at an Arch Linux (it's a slightly different style than the ubuntu one). Nothing mindblowing: http://i.imgur.com/qdi5Srh.jpg --- Alexander / xyproto

This should be fairly simple. It's just about tracing the logo and then extrude. I may try it, but the last time I did something in 3D is about 5 years ago. Lukas

Well, even the tracing part can be skiped, because I can see there's Archlinux logo in SVG.

It took me about 45 minutes to learn enough blender to create a quick draft of a 3D logo: image: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=33n98uu&s=5 blend: http://ge.tt/6SDaLGz/v/0 Now it just needs some proper materials and lighting and cleaning up the arrow. The blend file and the screenshot are licensed under CC0 (ie. public domain), so anyone can finish it up. Don't forget that the logo is still copyrighted. Lukas

How about using Luxrender¹ (LuxBlend for Blender)? It has some pretty good default materials and would come much closer to the requested Ubunutu logo rendering. ¹ https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/luxrender/ ² https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/any/luxblend25/

Yeah, I know (luxrender is my package ;-)), but it always crashes for me with this scene. I need to fix that. Lukas

Hehe ;) Just a quick shot at your scene with LuxRender: http://arch.coderkun.de/logo/arch-logoLux.png http://arch.coderkun.de/logo/arch-logoLux.blend Rendered about ~10 minutes.
