[arch-general] State of bluetooth (bluez4 in Arch)
What's the status about the bluez4 packages in Arch? Especially since the new KDE4 should be released soon. Also the new kdebluetooth4 is out [1], and it seems to require bluez4 and "the latest kdebase4-workspace package is needed (solid-bluetooth with bluez4 support)" I've continued to maintan my bluez4 packages here [2] but further work is needed by KDE and Gnome packagers to integrate this. Also .. does anyone know if obex-data-server and the bluez project obexd are interchangeable? For Gnome I guess only gvfs needs to be recompiled - can someone try this since I don't use Gnome? (BTW gvfs directly depends only on glib2, shouldn't the other dependencies be made optional) -- damjan

Yesterday I adopted and tried to build kdebluetooth4 0.3 but I get an error, so I updated bluez and obex-data-server in [testing] but this not help. Also I built kdebase-workspace with bluez 4.27, and try to build kdebluetooth, but I get the same error. Cheers -- Andrea `BaSh` Scarpino Arch Linux Developer

You might want to look to Fedora for patches as I think they have done the transition to bluez. BTW, Isn't Geoffroy doing bluez stuff? Allan

Yes I am. bluez 4 is in [testing], I'm still trying to get obexd working! -- Geoffroy Carrier

With what? are there any applications using it's API? note that, the obex-data-server and obexd don't use the same DBus API, so applications like bluez-gnome and kdebluetooth can't use obexd, they require obex-data-server -- damjan

BTW the answer is NO, we must use obex-data-server, obexd has different API and it is unused at the moment.

It seems solid-bluetooth (kdebase4-workspace ) needs a patch. I've linked the patch in the forum and in on the bugs sysmem... I can't access them now to give you the exact links. -- damjan
