The problem is that libtiff-3.8.2-5 is still in testing, but qt that has been moved to the normal repositories is claiming it as a dependency -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Three Broken Dependencies in all: 22:17 alchemy:~> ls -1 archlinux/install/*gz archlinux/install/libjpeg-7-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz archlinux/install/libmng-1.0.10-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz archlinux/install/libtiff-3.8.2-5-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz Installing libjpeg, libmng and libtiff from testing with pacman -U then allows a system update to proceed normally. -- David C. After which you have a broken system because many things link to libjpeg and have a version in testing that has been rebuilt with this new version. Selective package installation from testing isn't the smartest thing to do if you don't know why those packages are in testing.

Jan, Of course you are right. After firefox wouldn't start, I gave up and just added testing as a repo and did a system update. Now all is working fine on my laptop. kde-unstable requires you are using the [testing] repo. Allan

Ah Hah!, Thanks Allan. But we must be getting close to "stable" if three packages are all that is required ;-) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Rankin Law Firm, PLLC 510 Ochiltree Street Nacogdoches, Texas 75961 Telephone: (936) 715-9333 Facsimile: (936) 715-9339 www.rankinlawfirm.com
