[arch-general] OpenOffice Calc - Setting Cell Background Color does Not Display on Screen - prints OK
Guys, I'm having a problem with openoffice calc. When I highlight a few cells or few rows and then change the background color, no color is shown on the monitor for the cells. Moving the input box up/down across the rows or cells that the background color was set on, the color indication in the toolbar correctly changes showing where the color has been set, but still no background color is displayed in the cells on-screen. Oddly, when I print the spreadsheet, the background color is correctly printed?? Can some one confirm this on your install or let me know "works for me" so I can have some additional info before filing a bug report. Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. I can confirm that I'm not seeing what you're saying. Setting the background color over here displays it immediately. Using openoffice-base 3.1.1-2 dex On Wed, Sep 30, 2009 at 2:06 PM, David C. Rankin < drankinatty@suddenlinkmail.com> wrote:

Please don't top-post. Anyhow, to the OP, are you using a dark theme of some sort? Openoffice has problems with not showing the correct colours if you're using some sort of non-default (Gnome) theme.

Ng, I bet you are 100% correct! Brilliant. http://www.3111skyline.com/download/screenshots/archlinux/my-kde-dark- theme-800.jpg My theme is based on Obsidian Coast. Switching back to the default theme cures the problem. You would think Sun could accommodate something as simple as themed color schemes. http://www.3111skyline.com/download/screenshots/archlinux/oo-row-color-ok- light-theme.jpg Thanks Ng -- mystery solved. Arch folks, that nasty little intel graphics problem isn't also the result of a dark theme is it ?:) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Well, its cos I use a dark colour scheme and have the same symptoms. Take a look in the AUR at openoffice-dark-gtk-fix and go-openoffice-dark-gtk-fix, pretty simple scripts which will fix the issue without you having to change your theme (basically start the openoffice up with a certain theme, whatever your current theme is).
