[arch-general] Hibernation
Is there any way to hibernate my system ? The pm-hibernate command does not work. Also how do I get it in the menu ? I have ram 1 GB and swap 500 MB. -- Nilesh Govindarajan Facebook: nilesh.gr Twitter: nileshgr Website: www.itech7.com Cheap and Reliable VPS Hosting: http://j.mp/arHk5e

For hibernating to work, you will need SWAP size which is equal or more than your memory rise. in this case increase swap to 1.1GB. Regards, Gaurish Sharma www.gaurishsharma.com

Not necessarily if you're using tuxonice, depending on a few factors.

Do you read wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Hibernate ?
For the record, you can use a swap file instead of partition. -- GPG/PGP ID: B42DDCAD
Not for hibernating, as far as I know. At least not without TuxOnIce. On Sun, Jun 6, 2010 at 10:16 AM, Ray Rashif <schivmeister@gmail.com> wrote:

The wiki article says I need a swap partition, is not possible with a swap file ? My disk setup: disk0: / 10 GB ext4 + 30 GB LVM disk1: 160 GB LVM swap is on LVM 500 MB. -- Nilesh Govindarajan Facebook: nilesh.gr Twitter: nileshgr Website: www.itech7.com Cheap and Reliable VPS Hosting: http://j.mp/arHk5e

As previously mentioned, if you want a swap file you need TOI, which involves a patched kernel.

... or uswsusp, or uswsusp-fbsplash from AUR which even support compression ;)
