I haven't tested that much, but on my box the MAKEFLAGS are sort of ignored. Though it's a bit complicated: in the PKGBUILD: MAKEFLAGS="-j12" make bzImage modules -> 1 thread make -j12 bzImage modules -> 12 threads on the shell: both -> 12 threads Downgrading to 3.81-5 fixes the 1 thread problem.
