I thought assertions are usually not compiled into releases. Anyway, you might want to include a little bit more info. What do you mean by fresh install?

This is a bug that has been fixed: https://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/10598 I'm not sure why there hasn't been a new release yet though...

By the way, you can just click 'continue' and keep using the program.
