[arch-general] kernel26-2.6.33.3-1, nut (upsd) is dead. It's either the kernel or nut 2.4.3
Guys, After update to 2.6.33.3-1, network-ups-tools (nut/upsd) starts, but cannot communicate with itself on localhost or across the network anymore. The default abs configuration was used so it isn't with one of my famous configure strings. It starts fine, but then here is what I get in my logs: May 3 00:23:17 nirvana upsd[27067]: listening on 192.168.6.17 port 3493 May 3 00:23:17 nirvana upsd[27067]: listening on 127.0.0.1 port 3493 May 3 00:23:17 nirvana upsd[27068]: Startup successful May 3 00:23:17 nirvana upsmon[27070]: Startup successful May 3 00:23:17 nirvana upsmon[27072]: Communications with UPS archangel_ups@archangel.3111skyline.com lost May 3 00:23:17 nirvana wall[27074]: wall: user nut broadcasted 1 lines (70 chars) May 3 00:23:22 nirvana upsmon[27072]: UPS archangel_ups@archangel.3111skyline.com is unavailable May 3 00:23:22 nirvana upsmon[27072]: Communications with UPS nirvana_ups@localhost lost May 3 00:23:22 nirvana wall[27077]: wall: user nut broadcasted 1 lines (60 chars) May 3 00:23:22 nirvana wall[27079]: wall: user nut broadcasted 1 lines (52 chars) May 3 00:23:27 nirvana upsmon[27072]: UPS nirvana_ups@localhost is unavailable May 3 00:23:27 nirvana wall[27084]: wall: user nut broadcasted 1 lines (42 chars) May 3 00:28:23 nirvana upsmon[27072]: UPS archangel_ups@archangel.3111skyline.com is unavailable May 3 00:28:23 nirvana wall[27104]: wall: user nut broadcasted 1 lines (60 chars) May 3 00:28:28 nirvana upsmon[27072]: UPS nirvana_ups@localhost is unavailable May 3 00:28:28 nirvana wall[27108]: wall: user nut broadcasted 1 lines (42 chars) and every few minute or two, this gets dumped to the terminal: [00:25 nirvana:/home/david] # Broadcast message from nut (Mon May 3 00:28:23 2010): UPS archangel_ups@archangel.3111skyline.com is unavailable Broadcast message from nut (Mon May 3 00:28:28 2010): UPS nirvana_ups@localhost is unavailable and on the second Arch box [00:24 archangel:/home/david] # Broadcast message from nut (Mon May 3 00:28:41 2010): UPS archangel_ups@localhost is unavailable Broadcast message from nut (Mon May 3 00:28:41 2010): UPS nirvana_ups@nirvana.3111skyline.com is unavailable (I have two CyberPower AVRLCD 1000 ups'es that have always done fine. They use the usbhid-ups interface through /dev/hiddev0 and each monitor each other over the LAN. ) The abs package is network-ups-tools with abs updated and built against the nut-2.4.3.tar.gz source to make network-ups-tools-2.4.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz. To solve the problem, I dropped back to the abs network-ups-tools-2.4.1 PKGBUILD that I still had laying around and rebuilt against the new kernel and all is working as it should. So there is either a kernel error or error in the 2.4.3 nut package. Let me know if you want me to open a ticket. Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Err, umm -- nobody? This is the community package that's giving the problem. Should I just open a ticket? Let me know what the devs want me to do with this one. Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
