[arch-general] New GTK update make LibreOffice 'save' document type unreadable
Guys, I think the GTK update made the LibreOffice 'save' dialog 'document type' list box unreadable. Where you used to be able to read: "All Formats" "Open Document Text .odt" "Word 97 .doc", etc..., now the entire list is squished down into a 1/2 of screen space and is unreadable. That looks like the native/built-in libreoffice dialog. If you use kde this problem doesn't or shouldn't affect you. On another note I confirm that other gtk apps are also affected and that downgrading to the previous package version solves the problem for now. -- Mauro Santos

I can confirm this, I'm using xfce and in the save as dialog the file type combo box (is it the right name for it?) with the file types at the lower right is very small and does not allow the user to decipher/read what is each option of the combo box. This happens when Tools > Options > LibreOffice > General > Use LibreOffice dialogue boxes is unchecked. -- Mauro Santos

Thanks Mauro, all, Downgrade of gtk2 (2.24.6-1 => 2.24.5-3) fixed the problem. I'll report it upstream and post a link. For confirming screenshots see: Problem Seen with gtk2 2.24.6-1 [107k] http://phoenix.rlfpllc.com/dl/img/newGTK-bug.jpg Problem fixed after downgrade to gtk2 2.24.5-3) [27k] http://phoenix.rlfpllc.com/dl/img/newGTK-bug-downgrade-2.24.5-3-OK.jpg I also confirmed I have Tools> Options> LibreOffice> General> Use LibreOffice dialogue boxes -- unchecked. Additionally, I did see this behavior as well in GIMP, so it is gtk2 related. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Downgrading the gtk2 package brings back the old behaviour. I don't believe it's a LibreOffice related bug, because the issue is present in other GTK applications (e.g. GIMP), too. I think you should report this upstream. -- Regards, Richard Schütz

David, I also did these updates this morning (not xulrunner, playonlinux, evolution, fwcutter, nor apache) but do not see the problem you are reporting. The Save box in LibreOffice 3.4.2 is quite readable here. T.
Everything is still fine here, just updated gtk2 (among other things) like an hour ago. By the way the screenshot in your first e-mail doesn't work. Alex On 08/31/2011 06:06 PM, David C. Rankin wrote:

Guys,
I think the GTK update made the LibreOffice 'save' dialog 'document type' list box unreadable. Where you used to be able to read: "All Formats" "Open Document Text .odt" "Word 97 .doc", etc..., now the entire list is squished down into a 1/2 of screen space and is unreadable. Here is a screenshot:
I just found out that this is not a LibreOffice issue but a pure GTK issue. The same issue appears on Avidemux, too. And I bet it can also be found in any other GTK application. Heiko
