[arch-general] dcopserver problem
Hi list, Last few days or so of weeks having huge problems with kde4 after the last upgrade. Apps just hang, clicking on the toolbar > no reponse for eons. messages were around kbuildsycoca: WARNING's...... I looked on the forums/net and they seemed to indicate that typing dcopserver_shutdown, followed by kdeinit would fix the problem, which it sort of does temporarily. I wondered what could be going on and how to fix it permanantly. Any helip appreciated. Richard

Richard, I can't fix it, but I can confirm it. I have the most problem when I try and use a kde4 app in another desktop like enlightenment or gnome, etc... Prior to the last update -- never an issue, now I get intermittant app failures followed by a dcop message telling me to check to make sure dcop is running?? I have a feeling this is a kde problem. If you haven't done it yet, open a bug at bugs.kde.org and post the bug number. I'm still trying to collect additional details. If I get the needed info before your response, I'll file it and post the bug back here. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
