Whatever you expected to happen. I'm going to go through a few things now, because how people reacted to what you sent was neither unexpected nor unjustified. You basically did the same thing to this mailing list that the kernel did to you. We do not deserve this. But you're not a machine. You can give some context and some information about what you upgraded, what you were doing when it happened and what software was running. Looking at some of the details, it seems like you were running a shell in the linux console - probably with nvidia kms running. Was X11 running? You may not post a stacktrace to the mailing list though, ESPECIALLY one with NO CONTEXT WHATSOEVER automatically OR IN YOUR OWN WORDS attached, because literally nobody can help you now. The stacktrace doesn't contain any information about what part of the system broke, but you coulld have told yourself if you had actually looked at it. The literally best thing I can do for you is respond with BOFH excuse: Our POP server was kidnapped by a weasel. cheers! mar77i
Wait a minute, wait a minute. I just realized some crucial aspect of your fnord. You stripped the context yourself, ad on purpose. That's some seriously τη καλλίστη stuff you got there. cheers! mar77i
I prever ancient greek, so here you go: τῇ καλλίστῃ :) I knew it would pay of to learn that :D Cheers, Bennett On 12/02/2016 06:53 PM, Martin Kühne via arch-general wrote:

I need to correct Martin, only your mails are censored: https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-general/2016-December/042686.html They censor your mails and after that they fix the broken PGP signature, too. I never noticed that content of my mails is missing in the archive, resp. for mails that came through the list and it would be easier to do this, since I don't sign mails sent to mailing lists. Regards, Ralf

do this, since I don't sign mails sent to mailing lists. This happen automatically on mail service side. I see nothing offensive in this action.

Before you discuss it further, Ralf and piequiex, I did announce using bofh excuses earlier in this thread. I actually pulled the part with Germany randoly from collection of bofh excuses. None of any of that was real. We're having extreme gravity fluctuations, please move your pc to the floor rapidly. cheers! mar77i

At least at this point you should have noticed the sarcasm, since censoring a signed mail is tricky. On Sat, 3 Dec 2016 22:22:16 +0100, Martin Kühne via arch-general wrote:

It was in the news today. At CERN by accident a black hole was produced. It expands, Switzerland already is lost, now the black hole eats words from emails, since it has got impact on German Internet nodes. If we don't stop replying, the black hole will grow by eating word by word and soon it will suck under the third stone from sun. Coming soon. Roland Emmerich's "The Black Hole".

I'm in Bern, and I'm still perfectly alive. Although, the Swiss government may have taken precautions to ensure the survival of their people, so perhaps they transformed the country into a giant floating ship and bailed, explaining why the news reports us as "gone". The air is cold and the Sun is low on the horizon. I might be on to something... I may need to take a trip to the borders and check that.

I fixed your broken quoting and provide the following link for the second time. https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/118116/linux-what-is-a-tainted-kern... Maybe you installed a proprietary driver. Assuming a proprietary driver should cause the issue, you need to get in contact with the support of the vendor, providing this proprietary driver. Assuming a proprietary graphics driver should be the culprit, it would be important to get more information. Why did you install it? Perhaps you don't need it and could use a FLOSS driver instead? We already do a lot of guessing to help you. I provided a link to help you, to help us, to help you. Here it is again: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html Regards, Ralf -- https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Humorarchiv/Friedrich-Wilhelm-Heft
