If you merge the two packages, what am I supposed to do? I can't simply remove /usr/bin/dbus-launch and /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/30-dbus
30-dbus will go away, so that's not an issue. That leaves dbus-launch. I don't see why you would want to remove the binary? Is something on your system trying to call it, even if we remove 30-dbus? Cheers, Tom

Many programs run dbus-launch themselves if they don't see it already running, and then leave it up when they exit. -- Scott Lawrence Linux jagadai 3.6.6-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Nov 5 11:57:22 CET 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux

So... once this discussion emerged, I wonder whether it is a good idea to make libx11 optinal as the dbus-launch binary will miss /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 on a server setup? Perhaps it makes sense to indeed have a dbus-launch split-package? Best, L. -- Leonid Isaev GnuPG key: 0x164B5A6D Fingerprint: C0DF 20D0 C075 C3F1 E1BE 775A A7AE F6CB 164B 5A6D
