[arch-general] uswsup in aur
Hello I want to suspend my computer (no laptop) to ram or even to disk. For the ease of use I first want to try suspend to ram and looked into our wiki [1] which recommended uswsusp from aur. But I have the same problem like "dninja" in the coments. libgcrypt-1.4.3-2 is installed but the build breaks with this error: gcc -DS2RAM -D_GNU_SOURCE -march=core2 -mtune=native -O2 -m64 -pipe -mmmx -msse -msse2 -static -o resume resume-resume.o libsuspend-common.a -llzo2 -lgcrypt -lgpg-error /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgcrypt If I compile some dummy c-file with -lgcrypt everything's ok. What's the problem in here? And another question: If you suspend your normal computer - which method do you use? Looks like it may be related to the -static flag. libgcrypt doesn't appear to contain a static lib

Johannes, you could also try pm-utils[1] which is maintained in extra. I've been playing with it on my HP laptop, no problems so far. HTH, HAND mvg, Guus [1] http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pm-utils

Johannes, you could also try pm-utils[1] which is maintained in extra. Ah, that seems to be a good alternative.
But, pm-utils needs a swap parition. And having 4gb of ram, I decided that I won't need one.. :) Let's see how I'll do this. But thanks, I'll take a look at it. -- Gruß, Johannes Täglich http://blog.hehejo.de und du fühlst dich gut. http://cryptocd.eduforge.org/online_version

Linux can also handle swap files. Corrado

I think you need a swap partition (or file) for hibernation anyway...
The gparted live cd can move around your partitions. I had the same problem with my laptop too. http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php It took REALLY long time (two days). DO NOT INTERRUPT THE PROCESS!!! or you will hose whatever data is on your drive. On Wed, Nov 5, 2008 at 8:43 AM, Guus Snijders <gsnijders@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi, I think the most pain-free way is to add a swap file instead of moving partitions... and is equally easy. Greetings! Erwin On Wednesday 05 November 2008 15:17:05 timetrap wrote:

*phew* It's working like a charm! I'll have to tune some things, like stopping mpd but hey!!! woho! You've made my day! -- Gruß, Johannes Täglich http://blog.hehejo.de und du fühlst dich gut. http://cryptocd.eduforge.org/online_version
