[arch-general] Arch handbook as PDF
Hi :) is there an up to date handbook, beginner's guide or even better the Wiki available as PDF? I already found outdated PDFs. Languages: English and/or German I experienced it as very helpful, when installing a *NIX and having a handbook available on a tablet PC. I don't have Internet access for the tablet PC, I only can transmit a PDF by USB. Regards, Ralf PS: Pardon, by accident I send this message to arch-general-owner@archlinux.org first.

There may never be, because Arch moves fast and the wiki itself is constantly getting out of date. Also https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/30825 Maybe you can print / transform the wiki page you're insterested in to a pdf or use e.g. https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/any/arch-wiki-docs/ or https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/any/arch-wiki-lite/

There was also the handbook by Dusty Phillips, but as Karol said much of the arch related stuff gets outdated fast.

I did not check it's content yet, but someone wrote a book about the Arch installation. It's available as PDF and in German: http://www.schreibdichte.de/download/ Greetings, Pierre -- Pierre Schmitz, https://pierre-schmitz.com

Greetings,

There's the Arch Linux Handbook V3 by Dusty Phillips £8 on Amazon which is about what it would cost you to print out if there was a pdf file. james

As some already commented, Arch moves too fast for it to really be feasible to create a handbook. Also, take in account the fact the we have recently gone through various important changes (migrating to systemd for example), so every handbook or guide you manage to find is probably going to be quite outdated. What you can do, is to open the wiki pages you want and print them as PDF files. Although even the wiki is outdated on some points, it will definitely be of great help when installing a new system.
