It only came out yesterday and you're already questioning whether or not it will be brought into extra. C'mon! Have a little patience. Anyways you can play around with firefox3-rc2 in [unstable]. That's stable enough for me that I don't need to use firefox 2 any more.
I'm just asking....geez...

firefox is no different than any other package with regards to policy. When we get it packaged up, we always use current "bleeding-edge" versions, and 3 is newer than 2. Of course it is a bit different as it is a monster piece of software, but the same rules apply whether we are talking about firefox and python (large packages) or which and diffstat (small single-binary packages). -Dan

No, we will use Firefox 2 until end of all times. Firefox 3 will never come to extra ... in fact we will go back to Firefox 1 next week, Arch always uses the oldest and most outdated software. If we ever brought Firefox 3 to extra, it would prevent annoying threads such as this one, and that would be really boring, wouldn't it?
Well thanks a ton for your motivational speech. It's so refreshing to be on a Linux list that has some balls. I'm an OBSD user trying out this Arch thingy...this is 1 more reason I like it. Next time I'll think before I post, sorry for wasting bandwidth ;) On Thu, 19 Jun 2008 08:04:06 +0200 Thomas Bächler <thomas@archlinux.org> wrote:

I don't understand why so many people responds so aggressively to a simple question. ¿Can't we treat other persons a little better? José.

José.
As everyone knows Archlinux releases once a year (if it is your lucky year). Firefox 3 will be in the next Arch release (2009.1) scheduled for January 2009. Although its likely its gonna be delayed further than that. Until then no firefox 3 for you! PS1. LTS has been dropped. PS2. KDE4 will be part of the same release IF it gets useable until then Greg

Nothing better than some nice refreshing sarcasm in the morning. I guess you already got a serious answer anyway :)

Finally, Arch Linux will be stable!

I'm busy with it, give me a day or two and it will hit testing or extra, depending on how rebuilds against xulrunner are going.
