[arch-general] Web package directory structure
Hi, I have a bug #10920 (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/10920). Pierre advises (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=393437#p393437) to move php stuff into /usr/share, but Web stuff includes .htaccess, configs and other editable files, site generated data, etc, so after installing it, user should create many symlinks in document root or do something else according to hier(7). These packages need reworking (for example debian php packages install php-files into /etc, /usr, /var and create symlinks). Is it Arch way too? Before start this work, I want to make rules for web packages. So please post your opinions here...

imho its not usefull to have packages for most web-apps. (as you noticed they are not compatible with any FHS) I would suggest to use a vcs like git or svn for such stuff. -- http://www.archlinux.de
