This is pure speculation from my end, but I would guess there is some bug with an unescaped + and Django url parsing.

Also, http://www.archlinux.org/packages/search/kdebase correctly searches for kdebase and gives the results

but whenever the search term has a hyphen: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/search/kdebase-runtime a 404 is returned.

Hyphens are not the only problem See for example http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/10881 Greg

i don't know what those are, but the deps i see there all work. afaik

those are packages containing hyphens and symbols eg. tcp should be tcp_wrappers bcm43xx-fwcutter is the same but theres no link to it. Also searching containing symbols doesnt work Greg

As I see it the depends detection is fixed in reporead.py, except maybe a missing + . However, the fixed dependencies won't show up, until archboot is updated. Which is highly unlikely, as it is not used anymore afaik.
