[arch-general] Panel with weather plugin and editable menu wanted
Hi, I like the JWM's panel and I like fbpanel, but they are missing a weather applet. JFTR I tested lxpanel, but already before I checked if the menu is editable, I noticed that lxpanel wakes up external green drives without a good reason [1]. xfce4-panel is nice, doesn't wake up green drives, but suffers also from a menu that isn't editable, neither is the whisker replacement. I suspect mate-panel's menu also suffers from the freedesktop.org menu issue and can't be really customized. Does somebody know a panel with weather plugin and editable menu? A system tray weather app might be ok too. Typhoon and gis-weather seems to be not what I'm looking for, perhaps I'm just to stupid to configure them. On my xfce4 box I solved that installing whiskermenu and https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/menulibre/?comments=all using the PKGBUILD file from the latest comment [..] hth -- Friedrich
If you right-click on the Whisker Menu Icon, you are provided with Edit applications I found that if you at the bottom, when in menulibre (the edit applications program) you can use the Down/Up arrows to put the item/folder pretty much anywhere. You can move everything around and if you don't click the Save button, no harm, no foul. MIght be what you are looking for. On 05/07/2015 07:45 PM, Friedrich Strohmaier wrote:

Thank you, I know this and several other menu editors, but by using such editors the menu can't be edited in the way I like my menu. I'll test what happens, if I use two panels one above the other. xfce4-panel or mate-panel perhaps just providing the weather applet and fbpannel for the menu and anything else. Regards, Ralf
Hi, lxpanel >= 0.7.0 are using libfm. The lib waked up green drives. It's fixed now. Green drives are not woken up anymore, when using latest libfm from git. https://github.com/lxde/libfm/commit/994a1e25ba0c3da80575fc002af17ab02ed5998... http://sourceforge.net/p/lxde/bugs/751/ $ pacman -Q lxpanel libfm-gtk-git lxpanel 0.8.0-1 libfm-gtk-git 1.2.3.31.g994a1e2-1 Don't use $ pacman -Si libfm libfm-extra | grep Ver Version : 1.2.3-1 Version : 1.2.3-1 libfm-gtk-git is available by the AUR https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libfm-gtk-git/ Regards, Ralf https://bbs.archlinux.de/viewtopic.php?pid=337048#p337048
