[arch-general] What happened to Arch Wiki recent changes news feed?
Hello, I noticed some time ago the feed stopped working. I used to follow it using the gwene.org gateway, but even following the link from https://www.archlinux.org/feeds/ to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&feed=rss sends me to a "Login Required" page. So apparently either the feed is gone for good intentionally (I hope not) and shouldn't be listed, or is broken and should be fixed? -- Štěpán

I think you are bitten by changes introduced in the wiki update ~10 weeks ago. See [0] for details. [0] https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-dev-public/2019-September/029664....

Thanks! I figured the wiki update must be related, but I haven't seen that particular message. In any case, even though having the Special: page require login might have made some sense, breaking the RSS feed still seems like a bug, doesn't it? Also, it's been two months, isn't it time to make even the Special: pages openly accessible again? -- Štěpán

You can not expect the devs to read this list, and they are the ones to decide. I'd write a polite inquiry directly to the author of the mentioned message.

We do read this list.

There's no need. We have disabled the anonymous access to those pages for a reason. It doesn't mean it can't be enabled again in the future, but for now they'll remain like that. Regards, Giancarlo Razzolini

You could maybe use the mediawiki feed api: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Feedrecentchanges --- Andy

That works, thank you! If there's no intention to make the old link (<https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&feed=rss>) work again in the foreseeable future, shouldn't it be replaced by <https://wiki.archlinux.org/api.php?action=feedrecentchanges> in the list on <https://www.archlinux.org/feeds/>? -- Štěpán
