[arch-general] Yafray
Hi all, the last yafray release was the 0.0.9 version in Summer 2006. Notice that these sources aren't under development anymore. I would like replace it with yafaray 0.1.1. What do you think about? -- Arch Linux Developer http://www.archlinux.org http://www.archlinux.it

if you will maintain it, do this.
I will not maintain it. BTW, yafray isn't under development anymore, so or we move it to the AUR or we leave it there... If we want to leave it there, I guess that we will have to upgrade it to yafaray 0.1.1 (yafaray not yafray, it has changed name). -- Arch Linux Developer http://www.archlinux.org http://www.archlinux.it

So, is there some DEV or TUs intersted to maintain yafaray? Or can we move it to AUR? -- Andrea `bash` Scarpino Arch Linux Developer

That one is not true, Yafaray (note the added 'a', AFAIK Yafray does not exist any more) is actively developed and last website news are two weeks old. http://www.yafaray.org/

I haven't read the first post, my bad, I am sorry about that. On the other hand, yafray seems to be almost erased from history...

I know, yafaray is actively developed, but we have yafray in extra repo, so I ask here to replace it with yafaray 0.1.1. -- Arch Linux Developer http://www.archlinux.org http://www.archlinux.it

Due to limitations of the original design, the raytracer was completely rewritten by Mathias Wein. The first stable version of the new raytracer, YafaRay 0.1.0, was released in October 2008." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YafRay -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YafaRay So obviously, it's a replacement. If no Dev/TU is interested in YafRay/YafaRay, then just remove it from the repo. It doesn't make sense in doing the replacement. If someone is interested, they should speak up and adopt/replace yafray. In fact, we could just move ahead and remove yafray. Yafaray can always be added in the repo later on if someone wants to maintain it.

Seems that no one is interested, move it to AUR or simply delete it.
I will be moving it to the AUR. -- Arch Linux Developer http://www.archlinux.org http://www.archlinux.it
