[arch-general] What? - NO 'p' in dmraid-1.0.0.rc15-8 anymore?
Listmates, After going through the testing process with dmraid-1.0.0.rc15 where the biggest change for users was the addition of the 'p' in the /dev/mapper/raidname_device_partx naming convention, the last update warns that you must now *remove* the 'p' from fstab, etc.. What's up? Will we have to add the 'p' again next week? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Now I'm completely confused. The updates 4 days ago (now in /var/log/pacman.log) said: [2009-07-24 23:15] >>> [2009-07-24 23:15] >>> IMPORTANT DMRAID DOWNGRADE NOTICE [2009-07-24 23:15] >>> ------------------------------- [2009-07-24 23:15] >>> Version 1.0.15rc introduced a new name scheme: [2009-07-24 23:15] >>> You need to remove the additional 'p' in front of your number. [2009-07-24 23:15] >>> e.g. <yourname>p<number> --> <yourname><number> [2009-07-24 23:15] >>> firsthdp1 --> firsthd1 [2009-07-24 23:15] >>> Please change your bootloader and fstab accordingly. [2009-07-24 23:15] >>> [2009-07-24 23:15] upgraded dmraid (1.0.0.rc15-7 -> 1.0.0.rc15-8) I now have dmraid 1.0.0.rc15-8 installed. Checking my arrays in device mapper I see: 14:23 archangel:~> ls -1 /dev/mapper control nvidia_ecaejfdi nvidia_ecaejfdip10 nvidia_ecaejfdip5 nvidia_ecaejfdip6 nvidia_ecaejfdip7 nvidia_ecaejfdip8 nvidia_ecaejfdip9 nvidia_fdaacfde nvidia_fdaacfdep5 nvidia_fdaacfdep6 nvidia_fdaacfdep7 nvidia_fdaacfdep8 ---------------^- The 'p's are all still there? So what is the warning telling me? Why do I get this "downgrade" warning "upgrading" dmraid (1.0.0.rc15-7 -> 1.0.0.rc15-8)? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
