Just a quick note as I cannot debug this atm. Updating from 3.7 to 3.8 breaks wireless connections on my netbook. The relevant message in the journal seems to be "kernel: wlan: capabilities/regulatory prevented using AP HT/VHT configuration, downgraded".
I actually see this from time to time with Intel card too when using 3.8. But I usually get connected after a few attempts.
I have troubles with some routers (enterprise cisco in my case, tho others like linksys work fine so far). In my case, I find the interface gets disconnected. Retrying may succeed - or may fail - if it fails - i reload the driver and it starts working again - i am using iwlwifi (intel N 6300 (rev 35)). Disabling and re-enabling wireless via KDE plasmoid is the simplest fix. I too see many messages like above: Feb 26 10:13:46 lap3 NetworkManager[504]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: disconnected -> scanning Feb 26 10:13:46 lap3 kernel: [42931.771953] wlan0: deauthenticating from 04:fe:7f:49:71:dd by local choice (reason=2) Feb 26 10:13:46 lap3 kernel: [42931.777211] wlan0: authenticate with 1c:aa:07:f4:cd:f3 Feb 26 10:13:46 lap3 kernel: [42931.781025] wlan0: capabilities/regulatory prevented using AP HT/VHT configuration, downgraded Feb 26 10:13:46 lap3 kernel: [42931.826366] wlan0: direct probe to 1c:aa:07:f4:cd:f3 (try 1/3) Gene/
