[arch-general] OpenOffice.org on Acer Aspire One
Hello. I'm trying to use OpenOffice.org on my Acer Aspire One. For some peculiar reason, all the characters in the menu and title bar etc. and everything I type to the document are displayed as "squares" instead of regular characters. Sourcing /etc/profile.d/openoffice.sh does nothing. Installing a JRE didn't do anything either. Other applications such as Firefox work fine. Any ideas?
I'm trying to use OpenOffice.org on my Acer Aspire One.
OpenOffice.org is known to behave badly on Acer hardware. bad luck for you. try it on another hardware.

@op: try install the bitstream TTF fonts.
I'd suggest the DejaVu fonts, since they are a superset (and based on) of the Bitstream fonts but add international support for a lot of languages.
Also try ttf-liberation. I find them very nice. -- Shridhar
