[arch-general] Deletion of old account
Good afternoon, after some time, I decided to shift to another email address in order to have an account on this mailing list. My previous account was based on a Yahoo! Mail address which seems unusable from the start of January. If possible, I would like that an admin could delete my previous account. I will give my email address in PM. Mailman automatically disables accounts if their mail bounces too often so that account is most likely already disabled. If you want me to check, feel free to send me a private mail. You can also always send mail to $listname-owner@example.com if you want to reach the list admin (which also happens to be me for I think most/all of our lists). Florian

You can do that on your own here: https://lists.archlinux.org/listinfo/arch-general
I tried, but seems my account is not working with any of my passwords. Yahoo not working is not by any chance a DKIM/DMARC issue like [1]? opendkim-testmsg tells me your mail's DKIM signature is invalid. Should Mailman's dmarc_moderation_action be changed on the list? Is it already set to a sensible value? Sorry if I misunderstand this whole situation. [1] https://wiki.list.org/DEV/DMARC

I don't know, but as already pointed out by the thread 4 month ago. On a few mailing lists Yahoo/Rocketmail addresses could be used, but Yahoo/Rocketmail subscribers don't receive copies of their own mails, anything else works. I'm still subscribed with such an address to https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-users mailman mailing list. The admin likely could share the mailman settings with you, xubuntu-users-owner@lists.ubuntu.com . Regards, Ralf

That is already enabled since the middle/end of January (as a response to yahoo blocking us), but it appears that yahoo is not interested in removing the block. As for DKIM, I just now noticed this too. It appears that our DNS provider's UI mangled the entry I put in. I'm working on fixing this problem. Florian

Ah, now I understand. Sorry for the confusion ;) .
:D I need to apologise. Excuse me!

That sounds great. Strangely for other people's arch-general mail, DKIM works fine. Thank you for your work.

Our provider fixed some issues and now the key in the DNS seems to be fine. I managed to verify a test message, but it may take some time until all DNS servers are up to date. Florian
Does this fix the issue with Yahoo? I don't suppose so, but I want to double check 😁 --- Giovanni Santini My blog: http://giovannisantini.tk My code: https://github.com/ItachiSan My code, again: https://gitlab.com/u/ItachiSan My Twitter: https://twitter.com/santini__gio My Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/giovanni.santini My Google+: https://plus.google.com/+GiovanniSantini/ My GPG: 2FADEBF5 Il 23 mag 2016 2:47 PM, "Florian Pritz" <bluewind@xinu.at> ha scritto:

No idea. They don't respond to my attempts to contact them and the error message doesn't tell what is actually going on. Given they accept something like 1 mail per month from us right now I doubt they will even notice our DKIM sigs. PS: You might want to trim your signature a bit. It's kind of long. Florian
Giovanni Santini's and my mails still fail to verify when they come from arch-general. Is this an error on my side? Regards, Florian

i'm using thunderbird with dkim-verifier-plugin and you emails appear as Invalid (Signature failing) while florian pritz's email appears valid. giovannis email appears invalid as well, but with annotation 'Email was modified'. maybe this helps you to debug further (and lets see the state of my dkim signature…) greetz georg

Not sure if you confused me with Florian Pritz or meant him by “you”. I changed my e-mail From name now. There's too many Florians on other lists as well…

i think i confused noone. you (florian pelz) have invalid DKIM signatures (domain pelzflorian.de), while florian pritz has correct signatures (domain xinu.at). what i wanted to stress is that i see a difference in the failure of your DKIM signature compared to giovannis (which fails as well). i wondered whether this could be a starting point for you to debug your DKIM setup. georg

OK, thank you. The same happens for me. I can send a mail to @pelzflorian.de (my mail server) and @googlemail.com and it verifies successfully. I believe now this problem is not on my side. Regards, Florian

From this I'd think there's a problem with header or body being slightly modified somewhere on the way (added line breaks or something. I think, we've relaxed/relaxed set, so let's see if it
It looks like the problem has something to do with the "canonicalization" scheme used (c=... in the dkim-signature) Florian Pritz is using relaxed/simple and it passes, Florian Pelzs messages fail using simple/simple, the same is true for Georg Schlisio, while Lukas Rose (quit early in the thread) passes using relaxed/relaxed. passes) Ralf Mardorf has DomainKey-Signature with c=nofws, seems to be something else and passes. Giovanni Santini uses dkim with relaxed/relaxed plus some X-Google-DKIM-Signature - and this combination fails with "Body has been altered" (as opposed to "Message has been altered" for the other fails) in amavis. hope that is somehow useful, regards, Gabriel

IIRC mailman modifies the identation of the headers (tabs vs spaces). I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but I didn't see a reason to force simple for the headers when looked into this and I believe gmail also uses relaxed/simple. I'm not sure if relaxed/relaxed is a good idea. I read somewhere that */relaxed would obviously allow ascii art to be altered. This might not be a problem for some, but so far I didn't need it so I kept simple. Another issue with the mailing list is that we prepend the list name to the subject. This generally means that even with relaxed/simple DKIM will fail when you send the first message of a thread. I might start a discussion about this at some point and switch all our lists to a more DKIM compliant behaviour, but for now it doesn't matter too much since mailman is set to replace the sender when the domain uses a reject DMARC policy. Florian
FWIW on https://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions I'm subscribed with a rocketmail (= yahoo) address and _everything_ works. I wasn't aware that it works without issues for this mailman mailing list, since I seldom write to this list, but today I replied to a request.
