[arch-mirrors] Applying for inclusion in official mirror list
Hi all, We at Tsinghua University, PR China, have set up an Archlinux mirror site several months ago. It is quite stable now, and ipv6 ready. You may visit our Archlinux mirror at: http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/archlinux http://mirrors.4.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/archlinux http://mirrors.6.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/archlinux The first resolves to both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, the second IPv4 only, and the last IPv6 only. The site is located at a core node of CERNET (China Education and Research Network), so it will be quite useful for CERNET users, should our mirror site be included in the official mirror list. (FYI, the site might be quite slow for you guys.) -- Regards, Cheer Xiao aka. xiaq
Hi, When I check the repos in my browser I get a 404, are they empty or is there some particular reason?
(FYI, the site might be quite slow for you guys.) Of course, but they seem to load quite fast here from Denmark.
Regards, Jakob Wadsager
Sorry for the delayed reply. (I've been having exams...) 2011/10/31 Jakob Wadsager <jakobw@archlinux.org>:

Could you check again now? Can you reach http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn? It's the homepage of our mirror site, with lots of Chinese glyphs which will most likely be rendered as boxes ;) And, please provide the result of dig mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn (Replace dig with nslookup if you don't have dig.) BTW, someone in our team informed me that I should have checked the wiki page [1] before applying for inclusion in mirrorlist. I'll work on that before sending in another appliance.

A little surprising to me, but good news after all.

You should redirect http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/archlinux to http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/archlinux/ (note the extra / at the end) so the relative links will work. Without the / the browser opens http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/core -- Florian Pritz

I think we already have that and it works for me (not implemented through redirection, but http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/archlinux is equivalent to the version with an extra /). Could you provide more details, like the output of `wget http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/archlinux`?

http://paste.xinu.at/duw/ It would work fine if /archlinux redirected to /archlinux/. Without the slash the browser thinks "archlinux" is a file and it will replace that with the new "file" "extra/". -- Florian Pritz
The mirror still seems to be broken, you will need to make it work (Florians suggestions) before we can include you in the mirror list.
