[arch-ports] anybody having problems with Madwifi on Arch64?

Everytime i try to do something with wireless (even something as simple as 'ifconfig ath0 up'!!), the system hangs. The strange thing, though - if i do a compile of the madwifi package myself, using the exact same (from ABS) PKGBUILD on my Arch64 system... everything works out fine!! No system hangs anymore... Has nobody else ecnountered this problem?
