[arch-ports] block in kde start (ppc)
hi, in my archlinux-ppc I installed kde some time ago, after a reboot, KDE is blocked at second icon blinking, at service initalization...... if I create a new user from root and I login in new user, kde start linguage/country initialization, but when start kde-icons blinking, it stop at second icon may be the problem is in "service initializing" ? I chek: -/etc/hosts, /etc/resolv.conf.... all OK -network is active, if I use it in textmode -another lowlevel DE are working (blackbox, twm) thankyou sacarde@tiscali.it
Have you tried using it with Gnome yet? If that doesn't work, I would try uninstalling KDE and removing relevant config files, then reinstalling. I personally haven't tested KDE on my PPC so I'm not aware of any problems, but someone else might be aware of some. Cheers, Zac sacarde wrote:

kde and gnome works until some days ago !!
What was the error with gnome? It sounds to me that there is a problem with your networking configs. Zac sacarde wrote:

Hi. Is your loopback interface enabled, and pointed as localhost ? Your problem seems to be a network one. Gnome and Kde, need a correct network in order to work. -- slubman Jabber-ID: slubman@slubman.info site: http://www.slubman.info/

Is: lo="lo 127.0.0.1" INTERFACES=(lo) in your /etc/rc.conf (this really isn't port specific)

Is:
lo="lo 127.0.0.1" INTERFACES=(lo)
in your /etc/rc.conf (this really isn't port specific)
And also add this line in /etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 localhost -- slubman Jabber-ID: slubman@slubman.info site: http://www.slubman.info/
I have this ...
lo="lo 127.0.0.1" INTERFACES=(lo)
in your /etc/rc.conf (this really isn't port specific)
but may be kde-network configuration utility, has add this line at bottom of my rc.conf hostname=. defaultrouter=192.168.1.1 network_interfaces="eth1 eth0" ifconfig_eth1="dhcp ssid NETGEAR" ifconfig_eth0=dhcp
