[arch-proaudio] Comparison and Linux support
Hi, I'm looking to buy a combo of condenser mic and audio interface (mostly to singing recording), right now the options I have near my zone and budget are these: Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 + Behringer C-1 or C-2 Tascam US-1x2 + audio-technica AT2020 Do you know if both interfaces work perfectly over GNU+Linux? Which one do you recommend? Also, which one of the three mics would be preferable? And just out of curiosity: any comment on Artesia products? Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance!
I've been nothing but happy with my AT2020 for several years now, though I have yet to give it truly extensive professional use. On Wed, Oct 27, 2021, 12:52 AM riveravaldez via arch-proaudio < arch-proaudio@lists.archlinux.org> wrote:

I have the U-Phoria UMC204HD and am very happy with it - plug 'n play. A quick search suggests that the UMC22 works much the same way. Can't give any advice on anything else, though!
Hi! I use the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, it works perfectly on arch. It has quite good mic-preamps and is an affordable device. I've also tested the RME Babyface, RME Fireface UFX+ and the RME Fireface 802 succesfully in class compliant mode. Just be aware that you won't have the TotalMix Software on linux. Also I had issues with connecting additional devices via ADAT to RME interfaces. Hope it helps! Joseph On 29.10.21 05:36, Brett Cornwall via arch-proaudio wrote:

Hi there, also +1 for the focusrite Scarlett. Generally, I recommend a look at the following page: https://www.alsa-project.org/wiki/Matrix:Main ...but it seems your devices aren't completely covered there. Feel free to add/update the compatibility list when you're done. Best Oliver
Hi, everybody, thanks a lot for the comments and info. I can confirm that Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 is working flawlessly out-of-the-box in a regular Arch installation. (And just in case of interest, also the old Mbox 1/classic from digidesign with FocusRite pre-amps, provided it has the last firmware update.) I'm trying to update the info at: https://www.alsa-project.org/wiki/Matrix:Main , but can't find how to edit page or create an account... Let me know if there's something specific I should do. Best regards and thanks a lot again! On 10/29/21, Oliver Friedrich via arch-proaudio <arch-proaudio@lists.archlinux.org> wrote:

Thanks for the feedback, rivera! You are right, it is not easy to bring info there. The official way would be to ask the mailing list [1] for the Anti-Spam token and create a new account [2] At least you could post your findings there so that someone can update the wiki page. Thanks for your effort to share your knowledge Oliver [1]: https://www.alsa-project.org/wiki/Mailing-lists [2]: https://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php?title=Special:UserLogin&type=signup Am 01.11.21 um 02:37 schrieb riveravaldez via arch-proaudio:
