Even while my mails for what ever reasons need to wait for moderation, you should reply to the mailing list. That it's related to the Arc theme is very strange. I'm using an Arc theme customized by myself and never updated the theme. At least a self build Ardour 5.8 does run without issues on my machine. A few GTK apps became unstable on my machine. SpaceFM GTK2, migrating to SpaceFM GTK3 solved almost all issues. Firefox and all Firefox clones, such as Pale Moon. Claws-Mail GTK2, Claws-Mail GTK3 is even more unstable. I guess GUIs to handle tar archives never worked very well on my Arch install, I anyway prefer CLI over GUI for this purpose. Last but not least, Gimp, but the latest Gimp releases seem to work for nobody on what ever distro. Apart from those few nearly unusable apps, anything else, GTK or Qt, seems to be stable.

It's been years since I used any theme on XFCE besides Arc-Dark, and even more years since any but Arc-Dark or Numix Frost, and I use Ardour and GIMP very often (though none of the other programs mentioned). Not only do they both work right now at relatively new versions (and I update the Arc themes as well), but they always have. The only bug I've ever had specific to these themes was specific to *only* Arc, not Numix, in which Thunar's right-click menu behaved in various broken ways depending on the user. However, that bug was fixed when Thunar completely finished its transition to GTK3. To make sure I'm not failing to meet any bug reproduction steps, here are my versions: ardour 5.12-7 gimp 2.10.6-2 gtk-theme-arc-git 659.766ae1a-1 xfce4-session 4.12.1-8 xfdesktop 4.12.4-2 xfwm4 4.12.5-1 compton 2.0-2

Ardour does cause issues for the OP, not for me, at least not the version I'm still using, 5.8, a local build, not from repositories. Gimp 2.10.6-2 is exactly the version from extra, that is terrible unstable on my install. Now 2.10.8-1 from extra is installed, but I didn't work with it and just test running gains nothing, since it tends to crash when doing real work and I don't know steps to reproduce a scenario to make it crash. There are a lot of reports that Gimp 2.10 is unstable for many users. My Arc theme is most likely based upon an Arc theme from August 2017 and probably needs an update. Ah, if it's specifically a real-work thing with GIMP, you'd know more than me. I used GIMP a lot but mostly at amateurish levels of image manipulation.

The last time I used it, two days ago, it way too often crashed while just doing an "amateurish levels of image manipulation", to make an image to lightscribe an Ubuntu 18.10 live DVD. Involved were opening a PNG, using a few layers, one text layer, pencil, brush, eraser, selection, cut, copy, paste, pipette, fill, scaling, toggle quick mask, no color menu thingy, no filter menu thingy, just using a mouse, no whatsoever tablet that might cause lots of data. However, it requires to work with it, just opening gimp, adding a few layers, one text layer, randomly using pencil, brush, eraser, selection, cut, copy, paste, pipette, fill, scaling, toggle quick mask one or two times, not necessarily does cause a crash. Since gimp isn't a native audio app, even while useful for album cover art, we shouldn't dig deeper.
Hi, I use Gimp too [2.10.8-1 | from extra repo], and never had any crashes. I removed all Arc themes [20181022 version], and replace it/them by Adapta, so i can use Ardour 5.12-7 [same version than community repo, but built by myself to have in my language] as before ... *Dancehall Echo* Web Site Promoting Reggae, Dancehall And Soca Music. FWIW the GTK apps that don't work properly with an Arc theme on my machine, aren't more stable after changing to Adwaita from official repos. So the issues I experience with a few GTK apps, are seemingly not related to the used theme. It would require debugging, but IMO Firefox and Firefox clones as well as Claws aren't worth the effort, Evolution, Sylpheed, Falkon and Google-Chrome do the job as well. I only consider debugging Gimp and I hope that after upgrading Ardour, it will remain as stable as it is (not always perfect stable, but good usable). -- pacman -Q linux{,-rt{,-securityink,-pussytoes,-cornflower}}|cut -d\ -f2 4.19.arch1-1 4.19.1_rt3-0 4.19_rt1-0 4.18.16_rt9-1 4.18.16_rt8-1

Here is a comment on Ardour bug page: ---------- The cause of this is the upgrade to gtkmm 2.24.5+6+g85967ecc-2 from gtkmm 2.24.5-2.
