[arch-releng] Hook executed twice

Hi, At some point, I hope everything will run just OK... but I have another problem. The automated_script hook that I added is executed twice. At boot the line "Configuring <url> [DONE]" appears twice and /root/.bash_profile is filled twice. I have no idea what's the problem. Any thoughts ? Charles

[arch-releng] Finding packages in the 2011.04.03 iso

Hi, During an automatic install with the latest iso (2011.04.03), pacman complained that /mnt/var/lib/pacman/sync/core.db wasn't there. It seems core.db.tar.gz is present in /src/core/pkg/core.db.tar.gz I have seen on the forum an issue that might be related. So sorry if this is already fixed. But is it ? Hey all, I just want to report a bug I found last iso-update. Yesterday I tried to install the latest version of the automatic build , version : archlinux-2011.03.23-netinstall-x86_64, Everything was great, I was installed it like a normal installation, nothing special, the normal packages with GRUB... everything seems to be fine, until the grub installation part, - then it was crashed and back to the cli. my partition table was: (without boot partition) /root = ext4 /var = reiserFS swap = swap (82) /home = ext4 -- Best Regards, Netanel Shine

[arch-releng] Archlinux automated via PXE

Good morning devs, I'm running a big pool of Linux installations in the ETH Zurich [0] and from time to time I am interested in giving Archlinux a try for a big installation. But the lack of a very easy automated way to retrieve networking images, like provided with OpenBSD or Debian & variants, makes me drop back (cuni [0] got a list of easily netinstallable Os). I'm aware that I can download the ISO, grab the kernel + initrd and have it running, but it's a pretty cumbersome approach. Thus I'd like to discuss whether there is no easy way to provide kernel + initrd in a standard location? Secondly I'd be interested in seeing a standard way on how to automate the installation, which could probably a wikipage "Archlinux in big environments". I'm wondering what your opinions are regarding those two topics and whether there'll be some changes mid term that may make archlinux able to be a canditate for automatic installations. Hello people of arch-releng, A while ago Dieter asked if someone could write him a (relatively) simple web-app to get a better view of the state of the auto-generated isos. I tried that and have now come up with something to look at. He asked me to send a mail to this list so we could have a look at it in public, so here it is. It's hosted at: http://www.gitorious.org/ryuslash/archweb I just branched the archlinux website, since Dieter said he might want it to be a part of it, and it's written in django anyway so it's fairly easy to rip it out and place it in a new project. My code is in the testsresults branch in the afore mentioned repo, to set it up just follow the instructions in the archweb README, I added some fixtures so that things like bootloaders don't have to be entered manually by everyone. The /isotests/ page shows the results that have been entered so far, I tried sticking closely to what Dieter requested. The /isotests/add/ page allows you to add a new result. I would have liked to put the app in a repo of its own, but I didn't find how I can make the templates load from the app/templates directory, so I moved on to this idea. I don't have a lot of experience with django, so I could be doing some things in a very silly way, I haven't cleaned up the code I've written at all (I should probably do that soon, I'll get on it tonight), but I hope that this is at least an ok starting point. I hope I exlpained everything enough, if there's anything I still need to do, fix or change just let me know and I'll get on it as soon as I can. Greetings, Tom
