Hello guys,
I don't know if this is on purpose but IMO it's self-defeating that the
bcachefs module is not included in the ISO.
The absolute majority of missing packages/binaries are fine and can be
installed in the live environment but AFAIK kernel modules are a little
bit more special.
As bcachefs-tools package is already pre-installed, it is pretty useless
if the corresponding filesystem can't be mounted which is why I think
the module should be build into the ISO too.
I found out that it is possible to build the module in the live
environment the hard way, but:
- you have to download the linux-headers package for the Linux-Kernel
version used in the ISO
- there might be some point where the most current version of
bcachefs-dkms will not compile due to breaking changes in the kernel
- same goes for older ISO images one might want to use because there
is currently no way to get current ISO
- need to find a working bcachefs version for the current kernel version
- you can not simply change/upgrade the kernel in the live environment
Please let me know if I am completely on a wrong track and overlooked
something or why the module is not included by default.
Best regards,
DMC
