Using archlinux-2009.01-beta3-ftp-i686-isolinux.iso, everything went ok. Real hardware. FTP-install using a (selfmade) USB-image with Syslinux, usbdelay=2 net0: Realtek RTL8111/8168B was automatically detected, every partition uses ext4 (/, /var, /var/cache/pacman, /usr, /home), except /boot, which resides on an ext2-partition, GRUB installed painlessly and booting into system went ok.
