joe was added in 5980b62d4b2017181d19db02734286becd2937cb, mainly because I liked it. Since then, I have matured and started using vim. Thomas still uses it, but he's always been special. Joe has recently been moved to the AUR. And when devs make such decisions it's usually deserved. Furthermore, promoting joe through the install cd was never a great choice anyway, it's not a big improvement over nano anyway and I wouldn't want to make people waste time with it they could otherwise invest in vim.
