[arch-releng] CDs and USB-Image integrity checking
Please supply some kind of integrity checking for later releases in order to avoid problems regarding such issues. -- Greg
Yea, I'd like to second that. Though I've never used it with Arch, I find I often require to run such a check with other distros. On Fri, Jan 23, 2009 at 5:09 PM, Grigorios Bouzakis <grbzks@gmail.com>wrote:

I think what they mean is, when you boot the cd, you should have the option to do a check on it (while booted). checking a sum on the iso not sufficient: your cd might get dirty/scratched after burning it. I suggest if you want this you make a ticket for us. (right now i wouldn't have a clue on how to implement it though) Dieter

No, i meant just what Aaron did. I know theres a way to verify the integrity even of burned ISOs, the method slips my mind right now, but making sure that the file lying in your hard drive is the same as the one uploaded to the server. What you desribe is a feature, personally i would never use even if available. Greg

Great! another problem solved B-) Dieter
Well, technically I did mean what Dieter said, but hey, it's fine. Like I said, personally I've never really /needed/ to run such a check with Arch. On Sat, Jan 24, 2009 at 11:38 AM, Dieter Plaetinck <dieter@plaetinck.be>wrote:

Your call. I wouldn't mind if you posted a ticket for this. It's useful but it won't get high prio :-) Dieter

The other way is doable. We could generate hashes for the sqfs images and stick it on the ISO, so it can check the images... not sure how other people do the "self check" thing.
