Hi,

a suggestion in case you did not notice: you could do it like the GNOME people.

They allow access to their GitLab instance via a GitLab.com login: https://gitlab.gnome.org/users/sign_in?redirect_to_referer=yes (Sign in with GitLab.com).

This makes it possible to fork a GNOME repo, create merge requests and comment in issues without having an account for the GNOME GitLab instance itself.

I'm pretty sure that still creates an account in the instance. It has to associate the data somehow, right? Also, we are planning to allow social auth via keycloak sometime soon. If any of you want to help us out, that would be appreciated as we're very understaffed.
