[aur-general] How to make CVS work again

Hey guys, During the server changes today, the path to the community CVS tree changed. In order to make your existing checkouts work again, please run the following at the root of your CVS checkout: find . -path '*CVS/Root' -exec sed -i 's#/home/cvs-community#/srv/cvs/cvs-community#g' {} ';' CVS will ask you to re-login if you had your credentials saved, due to the change in path. In addition, CVS may not be available until tomorrow morning due to permissions issues with the CVS lock directory, as soon as someone with sudo wakes up, this should be fixed. -S PS: There is a whole slew of documentation about the AUR that now needs updating for the new path, anyone that wants to tackle this gets a hundred gold stars and a bunch of thank-you's.

[aur-general] Eclipse plugin packaging standardization proposal

Hi all. Maintaining a few Eclipse plugins in [community] I stumbled in a lot of difficulties while packaging them. I then decided to create a PKGBUILD prototype for these package and propose it as a packaging standard. I'd like to have some input from the community, TUs and devs about this. If the response is positive I'll wikify the whole thing and make it available to everyone. You can find the prototype here[1], along with the explanation of how it works and why. [aur-general] WANTED: Enthusiastic Bluetooth Package Maintainer

Join the exciting world of Arch Linux:- Red Carpet, Limos, Lingerie Parties, Magazine Covers... If you expect any of that then don't apply. We are looking for a maintainer for the bluetooth-related packages in the official ArchLinux repos. None of the current developers make use of this technology and thus are unable to maintain them at the level we'd like. So we're going to open up the floor here for anyone who actually USES and CARES about bluetooth on Arch. For the time being, this offer is open to TUs only. If we cannot find someone, we may make a public announcement. [aur-general] Anyone want ot adopt VirtualBox?

Hi DEVs/TUs, I don't using virtualbox since months and now who my desktop is dead I can't build it on my laptop @1.7Ghz. It spend more time. Then I want to know if someone of you want to adopt virtualbox packages. [aur-general] Please orphan gringotts for me

Hi, I want to take over the maintaince of the gringotts package in AUR. It hasn't been updated for months and wasn't packaged correclty. Because of some anti-ptrace protections gringotts needs to have the suid-bit set. I'm pretty familiar with gringotts and contributed some patches upstream for it. I asked in the forum and there I was told to ask on the mailinglist if some TU could orphan gringotts for me. [aur-general] kernel updates render package obsolete

I'm maintaining the module package fsaa1655g (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=8281), a job I took over as the package had for all intents and purposes been abandoned. My problem is that every time the kernel is updated - even the smallest update - the package becomes obsolete. I'm pretty ignorant of these things but I suppose that is how things are for some (a lot? all?) non-kernel-modules. The particular problem with this module is that my laptop depends on it for wireless access (it turns on the wireless radio) and so when the kernel is upgraded and the module isn't immidiately upgraded with it, the laptop is restarted, the result is no wireless - which can make it hard to get the module upgraded for one thing. So I guess my questions are: 1) Is there some way around the module becoming outdated with each and every kernel update? and if not 2) For myself, I can just keep the source code on my drive and rebuild it whenever this happens - but is there some way of altering the PKGBUILD to do the same? 3) Any other way around the issue apart from quickly updating the package whenever there's a kernel upgrade? - Mads

Dkms will allow you to auto compile upon pc restart and kernel upgrade. But then again, Arch don't use dkms and I still quite new to know the history of why not to use dkms. [aur-general] Request for removing jap package in community repository in favor of jondo package in AUR

Hi, in the community-repository is a package called jap. This package has some disadvantages compaired with the jondo-package I created in AUR: * misnamend: The application jap, developed by AN.ON and TU Dresden is discontinued for nearly two years now but jondo was developed out of it. The java-archive still has the name JAP.jar but the application itself isn't called jap anymore but jondo so the package has the wrong name. In short the package in the community-repository is called jap but contains jondo (now developed still under BSD-licence by jondos.de) . * no man-page * no menu-entry * depends on prorpeitary jre-version although the free openjdk6-version works as well! Is it possible to remove jap in favor of jondo? Is this at all the right place to ask for this? greetings
