[aur-general] disowning a couple of packages

Hi, I'm disowning sage-mathematics, sage-mathematics-spkgs(optdepends for sage-mathematics), fityk, and xylib(dependency for fityk). I will move them to the aur in a week if no TU adopts them in community. If you plan on adopting sage-mathematics, you should know that it is currently unbuildable on archlinux, and some other newer distros due to how it is built. It is currently out of date, and you wont be able to update it without fixing this. http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/10572 (13 month old bug without recent comments) http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/11391 (9 month old bug I filed without a sign of activity) If you plan on adopting fityk, note that it needs a development version of wxwidgets which I statically build in the same PKGBUILD. [aur-general] Anybody interested in maintaining courier stuff in [community]?

I recently changed away from using courier but as they are server packages they need close maintenance because they are critical to some people. I wondered whether any TU would like to take them over? I will maintain them for some time to come but I might eventually drop them if they don't get a new TU that actually uses them too.

[aur-general] AUR and unsuported architectures

Hi, I've recently seen some comments in AUR, where a user points out that X package works well on powerpc/arm. I was wondering what's the general approach given to these architectures on AUR; since AUR is unsupported, is it ok to add these architectures to the PKGBUILD's arch array? If it is ok, is it *advised* to do so when apropriate? Supported architectures should see absolutely no change regarding these packages, and unsupported one will benefit from it. Again, being AUR unsupported anyway, I see nothing bad out of this, but I'd like to know the TU's stance on this, especially since I'm about to install archlinuxppc on one of my laptops. :) Cheers, thanks, -- Hugo Osvaldo Barrera

Hello. Please merge the 'maxreloaded' package [1] into 'maxr' [2]. They are both for the M.A.X. Reloaded game, but: [1] is outdated (latest version has been released in December); [2] has a better name, so I adopted and updated it recently. I e-mailed the maintainer of [1] a week ago, but he didn't respond. [aur-general] Byobu has been orphaned

Hello all, AnotherZero, the maintainer for byobu, has orphaned the package. I'm afraid that I'm in the same boat as him, I don't really have time to do it (in my case learn how to) myself. Is anyone else up for maintaining it? If not, I will attempt to learn the skills necessary to get it packaged, however with my current schedule that will take a while. Any takers? Recently i've been working on the canon UFR II / LIPS printer driver. With help of 2 other users, there's now a new uptodate package with correct name that works for both i686 and x86_64 . [aur-general] Not the way to go: teamviewer and teamviewer-stable

I noticed that tlm created teamviewer-stable package since, in his opinion Hilinus, the current maintainer of Teamviewer isn't doing a good job. I think this is not the way it should go. In my opinion, if Hilinus isn't maintaining properly, the package should be orphaned and then maintained by someone else, perhaps tlm. There probably is a standard protocol for these kind of issues. The current way creates a mess in the AUR. See this comment on Teamviewer: Comment by: tlm on Mon, 28 May 2012 13:56:52 +0000 This package is out of date and seems the maintainer doesn't care. [aur-general] Two Frozen Synapse packages

Hello, I messed up looking if the package already existed before uploading a package I'd made, so now there's 2 packages for the game Frozen Synapse. gadget3000's package [1] has 25 votes, has been around since last September and has been flagged out of date for about a week. I haven't contacted him. My packages [2] was just now uploaded using the new release of the game. It makes sense for mine to be deleted. However gadget3000's PKGBUILD uses either a local file as the game package or downloads it from humble bundle, where the source package will never be updated.
