Preferably we want to achieve: - No download of full tarball for users that use the system jre - Default of installing the bundled jre (because that's the recommendation from jetbrains). - Only 1 source package to reduce maintenance I count 4 options: A) 2 packages: "base-with-jre" and "base-without-jre" B) 2 packages: "base" opt-depends on "jre-bundled" or a system jre C) 1 split-package generating the 2 packages from option B D) 1 split-package generating 4 packages: "base", "base-jre-meta", "base-jre-system", "base-jre-bundled" I think A) and C) are the best compromises. We're currently using A). So I'm fine with keeping it as it is now.

Hi, I resurrected beamer-theme-metropolis when aurphan showed me that it's maintainer had orphaned it because I use it quite a lot. The upstream was recently updated, but I cannot get it to compile from makepkg -- the latex compiler complains that it cannot write to it's log file. I didn't change the PKGBUILD besides updating the version and dependencies. Output: https://vps1.piater.name/commie/#5O9xSO3P Everything works if I cd into $srcdir/$pkgname-$pkgver and execute make from the shell. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be? Hi, I'm looking for uploading moolticute[0] into AUR but I still have some doubt that my package has good taste or not. The project is in C++ and use qt-5. I would like to upload a classical PKGBUILD[1] (with tag release) then one that follow the git master branch[2]. As the daemon is expected to talk with an USB device I included an udev rules that should match it and allow logged user interaction. In addition, the project does not include any systemd service file. The daemon is expected to run for every user session so I use systemd user instance. This service file is now very basic I will first try to make it upstream, so every distribution could benefit from this eventually. I guess that a lot are using systemd now. While creating the systemd file I was wonderering how would be the guideline in a case that an upstream systemd service file won't match (for any reason) Arch Linux policy (let say applying it will break the package functionality in Arch) would the good way to fix it in the first would be to create in the PKGBUILD a systemd drop-ins? Regarding udev, after installing my rule I decided to force reloading the rules files but not replaying event (only print a message to warn the user). My view is that the later would only be needed for people that already plugged the device before installing the package. Even with the i686 phase out, the tools seems to work great with this architecture, so I included it too. Finally, the release name[3] currently include "beta" (like v0.5.2-beta) does I have to put this into the pkgver or leave as 0.5.2? If comments/directions I will be glad to improve my work. Thanks ! Agree, the thing with the meta packages is a bit overcomplicated. How about a single PKGFILE, which creates two packages with the "split package" mechanism (one with, one without JRE). @uwolfer wdyt? (Mailing list didn't accept my message, sorry for sending it again) I've created the "-bundled-jre" version of the IDEA package after discussion with the maintainer of the "-ultimate-edition" version ("uwolfer"). Some people want to have the bundled JRE, others would like to use a system-wide installed JRE. The extra package "intellij-jdk" is not guaranteed to be the same version than was shipped with the specific IDE. Together with "pschichtel" we came up with yet another approach using split- and meta-packages: The main package is "intellij-idea-ultimate-edition" and depends on "intellij-idea-ultimate-edition-jre-meta". This JRE meta package is not a real package, but it is provided by two other packages: - intellij-idea-ultimate-edition-jre-bundled: The JRE bundled with the Jetbrains download. - intellij-idea-ultimate-edition-jre-system: The default "java-environment" package. [aur-general] Somebody using freetype2-infinality, too?

Hi, I've got issues with compiling a lot of software. My guess was, that I need to rebuild harfbuzz against freetype2-infinality to get rid of those issues, but actually building harfbuzz failed with the same error as all the other builds do [1]. The culprit seemingly is freetype2-infinality. I wonder if somebody using freetype2-infinality found a workaround this issue. [aur-general] libc++/libc++-abi status?

Hi, libc++/libc++-abi are flagged as out of date and are currently orphans in the community repository. Is there a TU that is interested in maintaining them, or some plan for adoption in place? I would be interested in maintaining them in the AUR if there is not current TU plan and they are dropped to the AUR. FWIW, attached is my PKGBUILD. Thanks! Chase

[aur-general] Cyclic makedependencies in pypy-setuptools and pypy3-setuptools

Hi, I would like to ask you for help with one messy issue with pypy-setuptools[1]. Python setuptools do not include its dependencies in vendor dir since version 34. It now requires the dependencies to be installed first in order to setuptools been installed. But the dependencies require setuptools to be installed to be able to install themself :) and thus cyclic makedependecies occur... This cyclic dependency is in package python-setuptools as well but because this package is in extra nobody cares, because nobody builds it by itself. Do you have any idea, how to solve this nicely?
