Hello Sam, You are correct, but the implementation I chose when developing those packages is not 100% correct (vcstools-git should be named python2-vcstools-git and all /usr/bin/python should change by sed to python2 etc). I will fix all those problems and test them thoroughly before reuploading them with proper naming and correct functionality. I would like to request the removal of these packages as I am working on updating them with python3 and proper naming: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python2-catkin_pkg-git/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python2-rosdep-git/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python2-rosdistro-git/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python2-rosinstall-git/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python2-rosinstall_generator-git/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python2-rospkg-git/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vcstools-git/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/wstool-git/
I am not a TU, so this isn't an official line of logic, but if the sources for those packages will continue to exist as compatible with python2.x, then these packages should not be deleted. If, on the other hand, the sources for these packages will switch over to the 3.x branch, then that is a different story.
All the best,
