Where is it written that you can't do that? PKGBUILDs are bash. Any valid bash is a valid PKGBUILD.
So, what if I would build a package which contains an .install file with an `rm -Rf /` in its post_install() function and upload it to AUR? That's a totally valid package, totally valid bash, which can easily be uploaded to AUR and flawlessly installed with makepkg and every AUR helper. Is it a qualitative good package? So, it's obvious that a valid bash is not the only quality criterion. Heiko
