The only difference between 'firefox-bin' and [extra]'s 'firefox' is that 'firefox-bin' is built by the Mozilla guys.

That's typically the case for '*-bin' packages. Useful because some projects ask that you use the pre-compiled packages from their site first when submitting bug reports. Among other things.
