[aur-general] Deletion and rename requests
Hello I took a look on some orphaned AUR-packages. And I think some can be deleted (all of them are orphaned and if it was reasonable I tried to update them): # pidgin-icq-russia-patch: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=23378 Totally outdated and the bug got already fixed. # pidgin-nateon: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32549 Source page is dead (Though the binaries got included with the pkgbuild.tar.gz) # pidgin-nateon-svn: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33062 Totally dead # pidgin-osd: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15444 Original sources are dead (although there exist other sourcelinks) # pidgin-qip: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16191 Source links are dead # pymktorrent: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=27373 Source links are dead. # python-postfix-policyd-spf: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=25886 There exists an other version: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=42275 And maybe this package # python-urljr: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=12563 Original Sources are dead. The package itself uses now an other link (which goes to the ubuntu archive) Maybe a candidate for deletion. At least it should be renamed to python2-urljr And now some candidates for renaming (or deletion): # pyevent: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=11158 as suggested from a comment: python2-event # python-certtool https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19916 ---> python2-certtool # python-colubrid https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=9785 ---> python2-colubrid (or deletion.. Last update in 2006. I only updated the package to see if it builds and uploaded the pkgbuild. Didn't test the package for function) # python-daap https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=54923 ---> python2-daap # python-networkmanager https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=37474 ---> python2-networkmanager (possible free to deletion. Updated pkgbuild but the created package doesn't work) # python-htmltmpl https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=34539 ---> python2-htmltmpl (or deletion. I updated it, but the last package which required this got an update. And since it's from 2001. Possible it doesn't work like intended)

I didn't rename these because this can only be done if a package with the new name has been uploaded. Maybe I will do this later but I don't think it's very pressing since there are still packages in [extra] that use a "python-" prefix when they should use "python2-". Thanks!

Good to know about that. And again. I'm back with some more requests *duck* # utube: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21994 There exists an other version https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=23584 And before I applied the changes to the PKGBuild of utube-gtk both PKGBuilds were the same. # xpdf-openmotif https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=39525 Newer version for the same: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=51660 # wpa_supplicant-libeap: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=39439 Patchfile not available. and propably duplicate of https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=39378 (PKGBuilds do more or less the same and it's noted about the duplicate in the comments) # tetex: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=1746 Not sure what about that. Texlive-core provides tetex. And aur-helpers point to the repo version. # revhosts: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15345 Sourcelink and page dead # transmission-gtk-ipv6: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=45144 Original maintainer wanted it to be deleted # zexy: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19274 ---> https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=58141 The creator of this package wonders, if they should be merged # xulrunner-qt: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=36107 Submitter vote for deletion, because this package isn't needed anymore Greetings

Texlive-core provides tetex. And aur-helpers point to the repo version. Old, unmaintained PKGBUILDs for programs that depend on "some Latex distribution" have "tetex" in the depends array. That is why texlive-core provides tetex. But they are different animals. Some people still prefer tetex, so it's not a good idea to delete this. # revhosts: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15345 Sourcelink and page dead Deleted. # transmission-gtk-ipv6: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=45144 Original maintainer wanted it to be deleted Deleted. # zexy: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19274 ---> https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=58141 The creator of this package wonders, if they should be merged Merged. # xulrunner-qt: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=36107 Submitter vote for deletion, because this package isn't needed anymore Deleted. It's me again. And got some more ;) # twitturse: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=38149 Source link dead # todd: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=47826 Source link dead # theyoke: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=29935 Voted for deletion (newer (git-)pkgbuild exists) # teatime-applet https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=13514 Source link dead # supplement-git: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=53946 Maintainer changed to: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=53957 #sunlight: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=38134 Duplicate of https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=38286 (Beside the fact that the PKGBuild is quite outdated) # stay-volume: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=29045 Target cannot be found under the source link # stackless-python-kozzi: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=14915 Original contributor orphaned it. Beside that there exists other stackless-python PKGBuilds, which are newer and maintained One question. What about outdated PKGBuilds of beta/alpha/rc releases? How are they handled? For example https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=36850 Stable is far more advanced, PKGBuild orphaned since two years... Greetings

One question. What about outdated PKGBuilds of beta/alpha/rc releases? How are they handled? For example https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=36850 Stable is far more advanced, PKGBuild orphaned since two years...
and got thisone also evaporated. it was a devel package, the stable is good, and orphaned for over 2year, so gone
