[aur-general] Deletion request for pcsx2-bin and pcsx2-svn-bin
PCSX2 Dev Team provides pcsx2 in two ways: binary tarball and svn source code. I'd like to organize things up about this emulator in AUR: my plan is to have "pcsx2" [1] as binary package and "pcsx2-svn" [2] getting from source code. Considering that the maintainer of pcsx2-bin [3] does not update neither reply emails for more than a week and that pcsx2-svn-bin [4] is maintained by me and it's equal to pcsx2-bin, my request is to delete these two packages. Thanks in advance, Rafael (username: josephgbr) Links: [1] pcsx2 https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=10268 [2] pcsx2-svn https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21899 [3] pcsx2-bin https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33449 [4] pcsx2-svn-bin https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=31863

If your package simply installs a precompiled binary, it should have the "-bin" suffix. -- cantabile "Jayne is a girl's name." -- River

I thought this would apply to software that were distributed in source tarballs... But it is fine. So, can you disown pcsx2-bin? This way I could adopt and keep it up-to-date.

I removed [4] as I see you already take over the [1]. However I'm not sure whether pcsx2-bin should be removed, the maintainer seems to be active. If there is no source package I personally prefer the pcsx2 name (without the -bin suffix). I CCed this email to matthewbauer, so he could share his opinion on this topic. Lukas

For some time now I'm the maintainer of pcsx2, pcsx2-svn-bin and pcsx2-svn. My intention is to have in AUR only a binary as source (pcsx2 or pcsx2-bin) and another with SVN as source.
However I'm not sure whether pcsx2-bin should be removed, the maintainer seems to be active.
Yeah, sort of. At least he didn't reply my email for around 10 days. I hope he reply yours, but case he doesn't, I'm in for adopting.

Agree with you.

Agree with you.
But hey, there IS a source code package: http://pcsx2.net/downloads.php Maybe it was added in time of the recent 0.9.8 release.
