[aur-general] Renaming packages - scaleft client and server tools
Hello! I maintain a few packages and was pointed out by a user that the naming should be different (due to being a prebuilt deliverable). I found in the forums a similar case[0] and the suggestion was to send an email to this DL. I've already created a new repository with the new names, but I'd like to merge the old packages into the new ones. In the thread I read that it is possible to preserve comments and votes, if that's possible that would be great. In any case any pointer to what's the best approach is appreciated. | Old package | New package | | -------------------- | ------------------------ | | scaleft-client-tools | scaleft-client-tools-bin | | scaleft-server-tools | scaleft-server-tools-bin | Thanks!! If you've already created the new packages you are almost there. Just go to the old packages and submit a new request on each of them. One of the requests types you can create (along with delete, orphan, etc.) is a merge request. It will prompt you for the target you want to merge into (which should be the matching new package name). When the requests are approved the comments and votes should move over and the old name will be deleted. Caleb
This is exactly what I needed, thanks for the information Caleb! On Fri, Jun 11, 2021 at 5:49 AM Caleb Maclennan <caleb@alerque.com> wrote:
