[aur-general] Status of Compiz on AUR
Hi everyone, I think someone should really take care of Compiz and its PKGBUILD because it's quite a mess. It installs almost two DE (I know it's an exaggeration) just to compile the main package. When it was on Community (if I'm not wrong) the PKGBUILD was fine because only a person has to compile it, but now that it's on AUR I think it should be better to split it in different packages based on the DE in use. I'm writing here just to have some feedback about this "issue" and maybe to encourage someone to adopt it and fix it. I don't feel like it's something I will be able to do otherwise I'd have already adopted it. Have a nice day, Edoardo

It's dead, that's what's wrong with it. [0] is down, both feeds and tweets empty in [1]. [0] http://gitweb.compiz.org/ [1] http://www.compiz.org/

Not quite dead yet. You are just not looking the right place[a] where the code is held[b]. An aside, the fact that Canonical took over development has been vox populi for what, three years now? [a] https://launchpad.net/~compiz [b] https://code.launchpad.net/~compiz -- http://about.me/palopezv

Didn't look at the end of ther repository list. Make that *six* years. :-) -- http://about.me/palopezv
The freshest bzr repo is just a bit over one year old: https://code.launchpad.net/~compiz/compiz/ubuntu I see that there is already a compiz-bzr package on AUR, but for a different repo: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/compiz-bzr/ In any case, Compiz doesn't look like it's ready to be moved back to [community] just yet. -- Sincerely, Alexander Rødseth xyproto / TU
