Hi folks, I'd like to contribute more to Arch. Currently, I have two packages I maintain in AUR. But is there more I can do? I can provide a resume, etc. for review too if that is required. Thanks, Farhan

unless you are actally replying to be a TU, a full resme really isn't required. However, knowing your strengths could definitely be useful. Without knowing your specific talents all I can say is be helpful on the forums/irc, work on the AUR (there's plenty of orphaned packages that need a maintainer, etc), take a look at the bugtracker (find patches for known bugs or, if programmng isn't your strong suit, at least verify existing bugs), contribute to the wiki... the list goes on. Great attiude though!

Just "contribute" as and when, where and how you like. It's not a competition :)
What does being a TU entail? I take it that it means Trusted User? As for my strong suits, it is Perl, Linux administration, C, and well, Cisco Networks. I have a master's degree from Norwich University in Information Assurance/Security. For some more details, here's my resume: http://www.box.net/shared/cgo5167xhk I think I'll start popping by the IRC and become active on the forums. Love this distribution of Linux, though, Ubuntu/Debian is my second love. :) Farhan On Tue, Oct 13, 2009 at 11:16 AM, Ray Rashif <schivmeister@gmail.com> wrote:

Hello! Nice to hear your *enthu*siasm! I hope it will be last long time in this distribution :) Especially, I like coding(mainly in C), here you can find some projects to choose where to help if you feel so. http://projects.archlinux.org/ Best Regards, Laszlo Papp

I don't have a whole lot to add, just kudos to you for wanting to contribute. People like you are what makes this community as good as it is. Just pick some aspect of Arch and help out. Forums, IRC, existing projects, bugs.. all the things other have said. Everything contribution is worthwhile. :)
Daenyth, Laszlo, and Ray: Thanks to you and everyone else for the warm welcome. Made my day. Needless to say that I haven't felt this passionate about anything since my old 286 DOS 3.1 days -- and that was back in 1993. Hoping to help as much as I can -- time to buy some swag. If anyone wants to add me to their GTalk or Jabber account, please do: farhany@xaviya.com. While I am here, can I get someone to change my existing form username from "dazealex" to "farhany" so that both my AUR and Forum names match? I don't have a lot of postings on the Forum, so if that is a lot of work, then I can just create another forum name and delete/inactivate the previous one. Thanks.
