[aur-general] Virtualbox kernel modules and initscript?
I just wanted to ask what happened to the virtualbox kernel modules and /etc/rc.d/vbox. They seem to be missing in the new virtualbox package. Is this a bug or a new feature? Heiko

The answer is in pacman's output during installation and its log files afterwards.

By the way, thanks to the maintainer(s) for the change. It was a really odd way of handling things before. David

I mean, I don't mind, but is it really such a big difference if you have to run the script /usr/bin/vboxbuild instead of the script /etc/rc.d/vbox setup every time you have updated either the kernel or virtualbox except that it's less typing? Btw., wouldn't vboxbuild fit better to /bin or /usr/sbin instead of /usr/bin since it has to be run as root? Heiko

Dear Heiko, could you sometime stop complaining and start contributing? (flames or complainings are not allowed) -- Angel Velásquez angvp @ irc.freenode.net Arch Linux Developer / Trusted User Linux Counter: #359909 http://www.angvp.com

Didn't I said "I don't mind"? It was just a question, because David said that the old way was "a really odd way of handling things". So I just wanted to know where's the difference, because I don't see one except for less typing and probably a slightly better feeling. That's all. Btw., I am maintaining some packages in AUR already. Heiko

Oh, it's not a big difference, but just feels wrong having non-runlevel related things in /etc/rc.d.

Thanks. Haven't seen it, since there have been updated a lot of other packages, too. Heiko
