I wish to use testing to try out KDE 4, however if I do that then the packages I'll be building for [community] will be compiled against [testing] libs, which will cause a problem. Is there a way in which I can safely try out testing, while also making sure that the packages I compile are built against libs in [extra]? -- Abhishek Dasgupta

Yes. You can make your life easier with mkarchroot and makechrootpkg scripts from devtools. Use git version from here http://projects.archlinux.org/git/?p=devtools.git;a=tree because the latest released version doesn't work. P.S.: do not top-post, please. ;-) -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)
