[aur-general] TU Voting On The AUR
See here if you're logged in as a TU: http://aur.archlinux.org/tu.php Alright, I know I'm not a TU anymore but this is pretty important, this is the new interface for voting for stuff as TUs which automates the process somewhat and pretties it up a bit. You might have seen the thread about two months ago about this and some screenshots which are basically the same as it is now, I put this together because of how disorganized the voting process currently is and how hard it is to check up on who voted or not. With this system it would become harder to miss votes (there's nothing like email notification but that's no trouble to add) and incredibly simple to find who has voted recently and who hasn't, your vote isn't actually recorded, only the fact that you did vote which also makes it basically anonymous as opposed to the public voting on the ML. So the whole thing is there ready for use and now it's just a matter of if you want to use it or not. Maybe you want to vote on it or just switch or whatever you like. If you do decide to keep it and use it I can add whatever is required to make the application more user friendly like email notification and some sort of stats page (right now there's no front-end to tell who voted or not which needs to be added soon) and so on. Although it's pretty trivial to remove the new voting system I think this interface is only improving on what was a fairly messy and flawed voting system previously. Again, this is pretty important and I'd like input from as many people as possible. -- Callan 'wizzomafizzo' Barrett

I added a test proposal lasting 7 days, if others want to mess around with the interface. Aaron Schaefer --

An automatic e-mail notification to the list would be helpful. -- Jaroslaw Swierczynski <swiergot@gmail.com> www.archlinux.org | www.juvepoland.com

And I've found a bug in 30 seconds. :-P The list has User|Yes|No|Voted? but no Abstain. In addition, a Total column would be usefull too. We will still have to check if a quorum was met manually (because AUR doesn't know about active/inactive TUs, and Dev/TUs are marked as Developers in AUR). -- Roman Kyrylych (Роман Кирилич)

Good! Some ideas: - notifications on new votes (via mail, via jabber, via irc?) - notifications (nags) when missing votes Perhaps through an ircbot? Can we put one up somewhere, perhaps talk to it via xmlrpc? I might be interested in doing this. --vk

I think if noone is very into writing that bot, it too much work for not much to get out. Mail is probably the best, as you can read it whenever you want, and don't have to connect to IRC.

ps: Shouldnt we use the new AUR vote interface?
I wasn't sure if I should use that already as the testing vote and such is still taking place. I was also not sure if everyone did agree on using it (I suppose so though). Should we just use it in the future if no-one objects, or do people insist in changing the bylaws for that ?

NOT unless it has been modified to allow for /yes/no/abstain AND there is email notification !! -Bob Finch Liviu Librescu - În veci pomenirea lui. (May his memory be eternal.)

Er, um... that is to say we should NOT be using the web site stuff UNLESS and UNTIL it alows for abstains AND it has the email notification stuff included. Sorry about being so terse on the earlier email. Bob Finch

It seems to allow abstain (7 people have on the test vote so far...). Also, I think we need a way to see who has voted. Allan
