[aur-general] Fwd: Re: [PRQ#4315] Deletion Request for python2-radicale
Even after the following discussion on aur-requets, python2-radicale was deleted. There's not a full tree of broken packages, since this dependency is missing. I'm amazed at how the TU ignored the whole thread AND the fact that other packages explicitly depend on this one. Can we have this package restored? this is an outdated duplicate (exept it uses python2) of the package radicale. there is no need for a python2-version, since this is not a library, python3 is standard in archlinux and the pkgbuild is easily tweaked to use python2 in the rare case someone really needs it.

While the above is mostly true, this package exists as a transitive dependency for khard, which is python3 incompatible.
This package contains a standalone script, but is also a dependency for others, particularly python2-vdirsyncer, on which khard depends.
i see. is this the reason for the ancient version as well? if so, the flag should be removed and the legacy should reflect in the packages name. otherwise i at least advice to update this.

Nope, it was out-of-date merely out of me not paying attention. It's been updated now.

i have to mark here, the discussion came to conclusion, that this package is still needed and the request (filed by me) was regarded resolved. is there any log, where we ordinary users can see, what TU to adress with a complaint now? georg

Yes, quoting the aur-requests mail:
Request #4315 has been accepted by Dragonlord [1]. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Dragonlord/
And on a more general note: Should TUs be required to subscribe to aur-requests? --byte

Hi guys, my bad and I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I've missed your discussion and as the original request seemed allright I went ahead accepting it.

I bet most of us are. Not missing to read all the messages is another question. Regards, Jaroslav.

Can we have this package restored? AUR 4 does not actually delete the packages, they are just hidden in the web interface. You should be able to clone and push them again. I don't know if you have to change the package or not, in case you need, just bump the pkgrel

Yeah, my bad. Curiosity got the better of me after reading the thread, so I checked out the package to see if it was still there, and what state it was in; but then I couldn't find any way to disown without pushing first and using the web interface, which I didn't want to do because then I'd be listed as the submitter, which wouldn't be fair. 'ssh aur@aur.archlinux.org restore' didn't work: 'restore: package base exists: python2-radicale'. Sorry for the inconvenience, Hugo. It's a well written PKGBUILD, with one minor niggle -- arch should be an array, not a string. I don't think you pushed your v1.0.1 update before it was deleted though (or if you did, it wasn't part of the git history). Cheers, WorMzy

You would have been listed as the submitter even if the pkgbase would have been disowned instead of deleted. Anyway, in the future you can go directly to the pkgbase page[0] and request a deletion from there.
